Act Party deputy leader John Boscawen has made his first ministerial speech under his recently acquired role as Consumer Affairs Minister.
Mr Boscawen talked to electricity and gas industry representatives in Wellington today about the Electricity Industry Bill and the changes it will bring, and praised those who had forwarded submissions on the Ministry of Consumer Affairs' review of consumer legislation.
Mr Boscawen last week successfully challenged Heather Roy for the Act Party deputy leadership role and picked up her consumer affairs portfolio after she resigned from that and her associate defence and associate education minister roles.
The associate defence role has been disestablished and party leader Rodney Hide picked up the associate education portfolio. He passed his associate commerce minister role to Mr Boscawen.
