Auckland accountant Stuart Robertson is one of the new directors of Anzon Energy.
After delisting in 1990, the shell company has been re-born as an oil prospector, targeting abandoned fields in Indonesia.
Mr Robertson replaces Ken McNamara, who could not continue as a director because he lives in Australia. The company needs at least two from New Zealand.
The other New Zealand director is former Apple and Pear Board chief executive Joe Pope.
Mr Robertson yesterday praised the new managers of Anzon, who plan to start drilling in November.

Anzon hopes to submit a listing profile to the Stock Exchange within a week.
