A seaside development at Coopers Beach in the Far North is the latest coastal property victim of the downturn.
The plot of land that was once a camping and caravan facility borders prime beachfront land.
The land has not been used for camping since 1995 but before then families enjoyed the idyllic spot for 25 years.
In recent years the land has been subdivided into smaller residential properties, some of which have been sold, while a few are believed to be vacant.
Part of the plot was sold to build Coopers Cafe, which is now under private ownership and management.
The companies responsible for the development of the properties, Coopers Beach Holdings and Coopers Beach Camping and Caravan Park, are both now in liquidation.
Director Kevin Peterson said the companies had collapsed due to harsh market conditions that had affected many coastal developments. He would not comment further on the property or how much the companies owed creditors and investors.
Callum MacDonald of Buchanan MacDonald was appointed as the liquidator of Coopers Beach Camping and Caravan Park, which was placed into liquidation on March 31.
Cooper Beach Holdings was placed into liquidation on May 25 last year. Grant Reynolds of Reynolds and Associates was appointed as the liquidator of that company.
