Plans have been revealed for a new $100 million hotel development near Taupo.
The circular design with a green space in the middle may sit on a 6ha site next to the Huka Village, 2km north of Taupo on State Highway 1.
It includes a 250-bed four-star hotel, 102 apartments and a conference centre with a capacity for 600 people.
A group of 10 unidentified local and foreign investors are part of a consortium called NLT Development, which has lodged a resource consent application for the project with Taupo District Council.
A source close to the project said Novotel or Grand Mercure might run the complex.
