A subcontractor who tried to retrieve his equipment from a central Auckland building site of the collapsed construction company Mainzeal says they stopped after being issued a trespass notice by the owners.
Camelspace scaffolding was locked out of Hobson Gardens on Hobson Street after Mainzeal, which was repairing the leaky building, went into receivership.
Commercial director Phil McConchie says they have already lost $300,000 in the Mainzeal collapse but what is frustrating is that it's not the end of their losses.
"Each day our equipment sits there, locked up on their site.
"We've got $1 million worth of scaffold on that site alone, and we're not earning from it but yet we're still paying for it - we pay the bank for it, we pay depreciation, we pay insurance.
