Fletcher Building says it is investigating the Humes pipes business in Australia, which may be put up for sale by Mexico's Cemex.
Fletcher Building chief financial officer Bill Roest said the company was looking at Humes.
"At this point in time we haven't quite decided," Roest said. Deutsche Bank has estimated the Humes business to be worth around $310 million.
