New dwelling consents have hit 10-year high, with 2824 consented nationally last month.
Statistics NZ data has just been released and business indicators manager Neil Kelly said that showed activity levels were high.
"This was the highest number of new dwellings consented in a month since March 2005. It was boosted by apartments and townhouses, flats, and units."
Auckland consents rose 31 per cent from last July to last month, to 1116 consents for new dwellings.
The total value of consents for all buildings last month was $1.4 billion: $976 million for residential buildings and $455 million for non-residential buildings.
