Love it or hate it, a giant white cloud has descended on Auckland's Queens Wharf ready for Rugby World Cup next month.
Auckland Council said the structure would transform the waterfront, and Fletcher Construction won the job to build it, working throughout the winter and often during wet weather.
"The unique, multi-purpose cloud venue with its rib-like framing and glass walls will accommodate around 6000 people for events, concerts and functions during the cup," Fletcher said.
"The cloud is part of a major redevelopment that will transform the waterfront, providing open spaces and facilities to encourage visitors and residents alike to dine, shop, relax, work and play - and all within easy access by land or sea.
"It will be divided into sections permitting different events to be staged simultaneously while the spectacular harbour views will provide a backdrop sure to wow international visitors," Fletcher said.
