Last month's global market turmoil provided a boost to local sharemarket operator New Zealand Exchange which clips the ticket on trades whether the market rises or falls.
Average daily trades during August were up 17 per cent on the same month last year and average daily value traded rose 11 per cent.
"That volatility in world financial markets has resulted in a healthy improvement in trading activity," said NZX head of markets Geoff Brown.
