Two of New Zealand's top watchdog jobs could end up being held by women.
Yesterday, Australian Julie Read was appointed the head of the Serious Fraud Office and there is speculation among market players that Sue Brown could be in the hot seat to take over from Sean Hughes at the Financial Markets Authority.
Sean Hughes announced he would not seek reappointment in July and his term finishes at the end of this year. The recruitment process is said to be still in the early days.
Brown has already been promoted at the investment watchdog. In July, she was appointed to a newly created role of head of strategy, innovation and engagement in charge of implementing changes brought in through the new Financial Markets Conduct Act - the biggest rewrite of securities law in 30 years.
