Andrew Hooker, the lawyer who fronted Fair Play on Fees' legal action against ANZ, will go ahead with proceedings against other banks after the two parties reached a settlement.
A statement released yesterday said Fair Play on Fees and ANZ had settled on legal proceedings with ANZ making an undisclosed contribution to Fair Play on Fees costs.
The claims against ANZ - which related to some the fees it charged customers - will be withdrawn following the settlement, but Hooker said today he will still be taking action against Kiwibank, Westpac, and BNZ.
The cases relate to the default fees charged by the banks in situations such as unarranged overdrafts, bounced cheques and late over-limit credit card fees, alleging they are "unenforcable penalities" and should be paid back to customers.
