Wellington Airport is to invest up to $76 million over the next two years to expand the terminal, extend the runway, improve parking, and position the airport for future long-haul flight options.
Chief executive Simon Draper said $41 million would be spent upgrading the terminal and international facilities.
The new international terminal will have eight aerobridge international departure gates and will have the capacity to handle wide-bodied aircraft, including the new long-haul Boeing 787.
