Qantas has launched a new safety video with barely a plane in sight that is also being used to promote the country as a tourist destination.
In keeping with the genre of inflight videos now being shown by airlines, a range of scenarios get across the safety message well away from aircraft.
Qantas says "friendly Australians and stunning destinations" are the stars of the video that will also form the basis of a new tourism campaign.
The video starts on an outback sheep station and includes an oxygen mask demonstration at the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart; at a Bondi pool, a brace position demonstration during a yoga class on Hamilton Island, counting rows to the exit on a Yarra Valley winery, a emergency slide demonstration at Josephine Falls in Queensland and a no smoking reminder on Tasmania's Cradle Mountain.
