KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - Qantas Airways Ltd will increase services to Los Angeles and South Africa next year and fly to South America for the first time.
The national carrier announced today that it would start flying to Santiago, Chile, in November 2008.
Three new weekly flights to Los Angeles will be added in March 2008, taking the total weekly number on that route to 43.
An additional service to Johannesburg will be added late next year, and an additional service to China will be added in August.
Qantas said it would examine opportunities to expand its services to China, adding that it would add supplementary flights to Beijing during 2008 Olympics.
"China is an important and growing aviation market and Qantas has been concentrating on growth opportunities on its China routes since we recommenced operations there in 2004," Qantas said.
The airliner currently runs seven weekly flights to China and five to South Africa.
