Auckland Airport handled more domestic and international passengers in August than in the same month last year.
Domestic passenger numbers rose 2.8 per cent and international passenger numbers rose 4 percent.
The airport said the rise in domestic passenger numbers was driven by Air New Zealand and Pacific Blue.
Commenting on international passenger numbers, it said Asian and North America traffic numbers improved but Europe and Australian traffic was below the same period last year.
Australian arrivals declined 4.6 per cent but remain 7.1 per cent ahead on a 12 month rolling basis.
The number of passengers from China rose by 99 per cent but numbers last August were lower when the H1N1 pandemic was an issue.
