KEY POINTS:
International passenger numbers at Wellington airport were up 3.8 per cent in September compared with a year ago, despite a fall in capacity, the airport's majority owner, Infratil, said yesterday. Capacity fell 3.5 per cent, but the airport still had a high airline load factor on international services of 79.3 per cent.
International passenger numbers grew 6.2 per cent for the year to date. Seats fell 3.9 per cent for the first six months of the year. The airport said that growth remained strong but was curbed by capacity limitations.
September passenger numbers were down at all Infratil's airports in Europe - Glasgow Prestwick, Kent and Luebeck in Germany. Prestwick's passenger count fell 1 per cent on a year ago, and freight was 5 per cent down.
