KEY POINTS:
Air New Zealand has appointed Dr Jim Fox as an additional non executive Director on their Board, a statement posted to the New Zealand Stock Exchange said today.
"Dr Fox is regarded as one of the leading developers of technology based businesses in Australia", said the statement.
He was the founder and is currently the Managing Director of Vision Systems Ltd, an ASX listed technology company with a market capitalisation of more than A$800m.
His experience as a director includes ASX listed Futuris Corporation Ltd and in the UK, The Technology Partnership Plc. Dr Fox has a doctorate in engineering and has been a member of the Innovation Economic Advisory Board in Victoria since 2002.
In addition to his business and engineering interests, Jim Fox takes a strong interest in aviation including experience as a private pilot.
Air New Zealand Chairman, John Palmer said: "We are delighted that Jim Fox has agreed to join our board. His engineering background and proven ability to commercialise technology, will add an exciting new dimension to the Air New Zealand Board.
"His international experience will be invaluable in bringing a different perspective to the development of the company's strategy".
QUICK FACTS
* Air New Zealand's Constitution allows for between 5 and 8 directors to be appointed - this appointment will fill the eighth position.
* At least half the Air New Zealand Board must be New Zealand citizens.
* Directors appointed by the Board are required to stand for election at the next Annual Meeting of the company.
