Jetstar passengers travelling from Christchurch to Melbourne spent an extra night in the southern city last night due to staff sickness.
An announcement over a loud speaker at the airport said the flight was delayed due to "air crew sickness".
A spokesman for Jetstar said one flight crew member was ill and unable to be replaced at short notice, leading to the cancellation.
"Around 150 customers were affected. We have provided accommodation and meals overnight and will fly everyone to Melbourne early tomorrow morning.
"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience."
