New Zealand listed infrastructure company Infratil will sell its 90 per cent stake in its north German airport, the European Commission says.
European Commission press officer Andrea Marshal told the Independent she understood the company was selling its holdings in Flug hafen Luebeck airport.
Infratil's director of European airports, Paul Ridley-Smith, told the newspaper the company was "seriously thinking" about selling, but had not yet made a decision.
Only 540,000 passengers used the airport last year, falling significantly below the threshold of 1.2 million passengers a year Infratil agreed to on buying it from the city of Luebeck in 2005.
The firm expected to get $63 million from selling its shares, after buying in for $25 million, he said, though it had no specific plans for the money.
