Budget airline Freedom Air has confirmed it will begin flights from Hamilton to Nadi in April.
The airline is still ironing out the details of the service and the launch date is subject to Government approval, but it expects to take bookings from early February.
Freedom's acting general manager, Michael Young, said the Nadi service was the first of several possible new routes for the no-frills airline.
He could not say what the likely price range would be for the Nadi flights.
"The thing about Nadi is it's very much a [holiday] package market, so we actually have to work with someone to package something up.
"It's not going to be as simple as putting an airfare out there, it will be a package including the airfare."
Freedom Air flies transtasman from Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
