KEY POINTS:
Former union leader Ken Douglas says he will retire from the board of Air New Zealand on September 24.
Chairman John Palmer said Mr Douglas had made an outstanding contribution to the airline since he joined the board in February 2002.
"Ken is a highly respected figure both in New Zealand business and among trade union organisations internationally.
"His experience and insight have been extremely valuable to Air New Zealand's board," said Mr Palmer.
The recent appointment of Paul Bingham to the board meant there were no plans to name a new director.
