Emirates cabin crew comprise more than 135 nationalities and speak more than 55 languages.
The growth of the cabin crew team has been steadily increasing in line with the arrival of new aircraft, and new routes being added to the network like rival airline here, Air New Zealand which is also looking for hundreds of new flight attendants this year.
Emirates divisional senior vice president - service delivery, Terry Daly, said cabin crew were the airline's greatest brand ambassadors.
"They interact daily with our customers at 35,000 feet in the air, and also at major exhibitions and events around the world where Emirates has a presence," he said.
Emirates, which flies three times daily from Auckland to Dubai and beyond via Australia, as well as once daily from Christchurch, says it offers its crew diverse prospects. There were opportunities for progression within the airline as well as being promoted through the cabin crew ranks. Many crew progress from economy class to business class in less than 18 months and others who stay on have become pursers or cabin crew leaders on board in around five to six years.
Emirates' cabin crew often come from other professions, such as accountants, economists, medics, and musicians, and have opportunities to move to other departments as well. Cabin crew are based in Dubai and offered an employment package that includes free accommodation, transport to and from work, free insurance, medical and dental cover. Crew and their family can also get discounted travel.
Emirates has been one of the fastest growing airlines and now flies to 140 destinations across 6 continents.
