The number of domestic passengers using Auckland International Airport rose and the number of international passengers fell in July compared to a year ago.
International passenger volumes decreased 0.3 per cent in July from the same month last year, although on a 12-month basis the number was up 2.2 per cent.
Ahead of the Olympics, the number of arrivals from China was down 11.2 per cent on a year ago.
New Zealanders were also making less international travel. New Zealand resident arrivals decreased by 7.6 per cent in July.
Indian arrivals were very strong for the month, up 42.7 per cent and up 13 per cent on a 12-month basis.
Domestic passenger volumes were up 9.6 per cent on the same month last year and 13.5 per cent on a 12-month basis.
"Competition in the domestic market continues to drive strong growth," the airport said.
Auckland Airport shares closed steady at $2.01.
