KEY POINTS:
Christchurch International Airport has been named third best airport of its size at an industry service quality awards ceremony in Dubai.
The Airports Council International (ACI) placed Christchurch airport third behind central Japan airport and Adelaide Airport, both of which have been redeveloped in the past two years.
"We are delighted to have received this award and it is a reflection of the commitment by Christchurch Airport staff to service excellence across all aspects of the business," chief executive Rene Bakx said.
The category was for airports with between 5-15 million passenger movements per year, and was based on the results of over 200,000 questionnaires gathered on a quarterly basis from 90 airports.
Christchurch Airport has been placed in the top three in this category since the awards commenced two years ago.
