KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - Most voters oppose the Australian federal government's move to clear the way for the sale of Qantas, an ACNielsen poll reveals.
The poll, conducted for Fairfax media, found 56 per cent of voters opposed the sale, while 31 per cent disapproved.
The result comes a day after an ACNielsen poll revealed the coalition was performing poorly.
Sentiment against the Qantas decision was strongest in Western Australia and South Australia, Fairfax reported.
The poll suggests the Qantas takeover is another issue running against the government and voters are not convinced by guarantees on air services and jobs which the government secured from the private equity consortium bidding for the airline.
