Auckland Airport is pointing to this year's early Easter as a major factor in last month's passenger statistics.
Total international passenger numbers were down 4.4 per cent, compared to a year earlier, to 518,795 in April. The 12-month rolling total was up 3.1 per cent to 6.5 million.
Domestic passenger numbers were up 23.6 per cent to 531,061 for the month, with the 12-month rolling total up 11.2 per cent to 5.6 million.
International aircraft movements rose 2.9 per cent in April to 3218, with the 12-month rolling total up 1 per cent to 38,827.
For domestic movements the increase for April was 3.8 per cent to 10,127, with the rolling total up 1.8 per cent to 121,082.
The airport said the timing of Easter in March this year, as opposed to April in 2007, had a considerable impact on April passenger volumes.
Auckland Airport shares were down 4c in early afternoon trade to $2.16.
