KEY POINTS:
Air New Zealand increased the load factor, or "bums on seats", on its flights in June, particularly on its long-haul international routes.
The national carrier had a passenger load factor of 78.2 per cent in June, up 7.5 percentage points on June 2006.
The load factor on long haul services was 80 per cent, up from 72.5 per cent in June 2006.
"This performance is particularly pleasing given that capacity has increased significantly as the result of the introduction of Shanghai and Hong Kong/London services during the year," the airline said.
Passenger load factors on Tasman and Pacific Island routes continue to track ahead of last year, with 75.3 per cent of seats filled in June. This is 9.1 percentage points ahead of last year.
AirNZ said a rationalisation of Tasman services helped improve the statistic.
The group-wide year-to-June passenger load factor rose from 75 per cent last year to 76.5 per cent this year.
Year-to-date group-wide yields were 7.7 per cent higher when compared with the previous period. Long and short-haul yields were up 8.8 per cent and 7.5 per cent respectively.
