KEY POINTS:
Air New Zealand has finalised its order for four more Boeing 787 Dreamliners, announced by the airline in December, Boeing says.
The order takes to eight the number of the 250-290 passenger 787-9 planes ordered by Air New Zealand.
The value of the new order is about US$700 million ($1 billion) at list prices. The four planes were added to the Boeing orders and deliveries website last week, attributed to an unidentified customer.
The first of Air New Zealand's 787s will be delivered in 2010, with deliveries of the four most recently ordered planes to take place from 2011 through to 2013.
A ir New Zealand chief executive Rob Fyfe said the new aircraft were important to Air New Zealand's growth plans during the next decade.
"Their long-haul capabilities will reach to a variety of destinations in Africa, India, the Americas and Asia, bringing some exciting prospects that we can pursue."
