KEY POINTS:
Air New Zealand's longest serving director, Sir Ron Carter, will retire from the board at the end of March.
Chairman John Palmer said Sir Ron has made an outstanding contribution to the airline since he joined the Board in July 1998.
"Sir Ron is justifiably one of the most respected figures in New Zealand business and his wisdom and insight have been incredibly valuable to Air New Zealand's board," said Palmer.
Palmer said Sir Ron's background in engineering was an asset and he retires with the board's best wishes.
Given the recent appointment of Jim Fox to the board, there are no plans for further appointments, Palmer said.
