Air NZ flies more passengers

Air New Zealand carried 882,061 passengers in August, a 3.7 per cent increase on the same month last year.

For the year to date, passenger numbers have gone up 15.3 per cent.

Year to date capacity, measured by "available seat kilometres", is up by just over 13 per cent.

This has been more than matched by a jump in "revenue passenger kilometres", which measures people actually travelling in those seats.

This was up 14.1 per cent.
