The national carrier and unions have been in talks about the possibility of a slimmed-down operation which would save more than half of the 600 jobs at risk.
Air New Zealand says it is on track to make an announcement today.
EPMU national secretary Andrew Little says the airline has been given a pretty solid case in favour of some retention.
