KEY POINTS:
Air New Zealand has yet to confirm whether there will be any delay on the delivery of its eight 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft from Boeing.
The airline is expecting the first of the aircraft to arrive at the end of 2010 with all eight due to be in service by 2011.
Yesterday Boeing announced a six-month delay on the delivery of its first Dreamliners, the 787-8s which were due to be ready by May 2008.
But when the Business Herald spoke to Air New Zealand yesterday, the firm had yet to contact Boeing. Air NZ spokeswoman Tracey Palmer said the airline would be discussing any possible impact of the delay with Boeing in the near future and it "remained confident that Boeing would deliver an innovative and world class aeroplane".
Air New Zealand has previously said the new aircraft, which it is spending $1.57 billion on, are a vital part of its operational plans.
Qantas put out a statement yesterday reassuring shareholders that the delays would not have a material impact on its operations.
Qantas has 15 Dreamliners scheduled to arrive between August 2008 and December 2009 to become part of its budget Jetstar fleet.
