KEY POINTS:
The 2007 New Zealand Export Awards are set to be the largest ever, with a record number of 80 entries received.
Chief Executive of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Tim Gibson, said he is delighted at the number of entries to the Export Awards this year, which bodes well for New Zealand's future as an exporting nation and negates the assertion that exporting success is not possible in current economic conditions.
"The big issue is always how we encourage our exporters to think long-term and I am encouraged by the response we have had. Exporting success will help give more New Zealand firms the economies of scale and specialisation required to produce high value-added products and services and drive economic transformation," he said.
Finalists in the awards will be announced in October, then the big prizes will be announced at a gala dinner and Awards ceremony in Auckland in November.
