A 12km containment zone surrounds a kiwifruit orchard in Te Awamutu after Psa-V was discovered for the first time there this week.
One orchard in the area, home to about 26 growers, tested positive and a second orchard has reported symptoms.
Kiwifruit Vine Health was investigating the outbreak and will meet growers in Cambridge today.
The discovery comes after the first Psa-V positive Hort16A vines were found this month in the Franklin region, where only Gold3 and green vines had been previously affected.
As at last week, Psa-V had been found on 6574ha in 1262 orchards, most of them in the Bay of Plenty.
