Sharemilker of Year record

Organisers of this year's national Sharemilker of the Year awards are "thrilled and overwhelmed" by a record 152 entries.

Management committee chairman Alison Watters said 12 regional competitions had been confirmed for the first time in several years.

She said changes made to this year's competition would enable contract milkers to participate.

With increased competition for sharemilking positions, success in the Sharemilker of the Year was public recognition of entrants' achievements and abilities.

The 12 regional events will be decided during March and April. Winners compete in the national final in Christchurch on May 13.
