KEY POINTS:
Cereal manufacturer Sanitarium has secured a deal that has the potential to open up millions of dollars in trade with the Philippines.
The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Philippines Government to export to that country.
General manager Pierre van Heerden says the deal also includes importing raw materials such as fruit and additives from the Philippines for the manufacture of breakfast cereals and health foods. Sanitarium will also provide nutrition education.
Mr van Heerden says although a firm dollar value has not yet been put to the deal, the Philippines represents a large market of 87 million people.
