The meat industry is celebrating a new economic agreement with Taiwan coming into force today.
It will remove all beef export tariffs by 2015 and sheepmeat export tariffs by 2017.
It will also help ease barriers that could restrict our exports.
Beef + Lamb New Zealand and the Meat Industry Association say it will make New Zealands red meat exports more competitive in what is already the sectors eighth-largest export market.
New Zealands 208 million dollars of sheep and beef product exports to Taiwan in 2012 incurred around 18 million dollars in tariffs.
