KEY POINTS:
A serpentine skybridge has been built to link two aged-care buildings at Waitakere Gardens in Henderson, Auckland.
The first stage of the retirement village, owned by Vision Senior Living Retirement Village, was completed in 1999, but further work on the site created the need to link buildings.
The new bridge connects an earlier block with a new apartment building on the site. Describing the skybridge as the sort of feature which might connect a casino or hotel, a spokesman said it opened last month with a fireworks display.
Further development work is under way on the site. Vision has also started work on a new retirement village on Carlaw Park site in Parnell.
