Ryman Healthcare says it has received resource consent for a $140 million-plus retirement village in Orewa and plans to start work immediately.
Named after artist Evelyn Page, the village will be home to up to 500 residents and employ more than 120 staff, Ryman said today.
The village, which will open in 2009 and was selling now, would have independent townhouse living, assisted living in serviced apartments, resthome, hospital and dementia care.
Facilities would include an internal atrium, indoor swimming pool and spa, gym, beauty and hairdressing salons, bowling green, and a movie theatre.
It will be the 21st retirement village for Ryman, which provides home and care services to more than 4000 elderly New Zealanders.
Ryman shares were down 4c to $1.42 around lunchtime, up from a year low of $1.28 in November.
