The new $11 million Ranfurly Care and Veterans Facility will be opened in Auckland today.
The building at 539 Mt Albert Rd, Three Kings is for war veterans and elderly people.
Veterans and others living in aged care at Ranfurly will move in a few weeks. They were housed in the old rest home and hospital which will be demolished but the historic 1903 building is remaining and will be refurbished.
The 180-unit Ranfurly Village retirement project is now being built and a tower crane is in place. A spokesperson said the 1903 building would remain a living monument for war veterans.
The building was developed by charitable entity The Ranfurly Trust and developer Graham Wilkinson of Retirement Assets.
