The Auckland Chamber of Commerce's New Kiwis programme has been short-listed for a prestigious international prize, the World Chambers competition for innovative initiatives.
The competition is being held in conjunction with the International Chambers of Commerce conference in Durban, South Africa, next month.
New Kiwis began as a partnership between the chamber and the Immigration Service to help skilled new migrants into appropriate jobs.
Through its website www.newkiwis.co.nz, it brings skilled migrants and employers together.
It has placed more than 1300 migrants into employment.
In 2003, the Auckland chamber won the marketing and communications section of the competition.
