New car registrations totalled 6382 last month - 0.3 per cent less than June but 6.6 per cent more than last July, Land Transport NZ said.
Used car registrations - generally imported used cars - totalled 11,069 last month, up 10.61 per cent on June and 7.3 per cent on a year ago.
New commercial vehicles were 2430, down from June's 2530 but up 20.8 per cent on last July. Top sellers were Toyota (1001 new) and Holden (864 new).
