Calan's Greenlane hospital to expand

Growth in demand from the private hospital sector has prompted listed real estate investor Calan Healthcare Properties Trust to expand its Greenlane base in Auckland.

Bruce Davidson, chairman of the trust's manager, said a $1 million expansion would add 15 beds and more consulting rooms and office space at the Ascot Hospital.

The trust has signed a conditional deal to sell the $2.78 million "hole" next door to a developer, who plans a building for health-sector tenants.

The trust has pre-emptive rights to lease floors in the planned building.
