KEY POINTS:
Business New Zealand yesterday dissociated itself from the Climate Change Leadership Forum's statement which broadly endorsed the Government's planned emissions trading scheme.
Business NZ chief executive Phil O'Reilly, who is one of the forum's 34 members, said the statement was the result of a late paper prepared for a meeting he and some other members did not attend. Business NZ did not agree with many of the points.
"The claim that the nationwide economic impacts should be relatively modest, for example, is something that NZIER would dispute and so would I," he said.
O'Reilly said he had understood the forum would make no public statements, confining itself to advice to the Government.
Forum chairman Stephen Tindall said O'Reilly had had an opportunity to have his objections to specific points noted.
