Mobile phone maker Nokia has switched on to Auckland's Lightbulb Technologies, using its software to educate Vodafone staff and customers about its flash new phone - the 7610.
The system is being used to train staff in the Vodafone sales channel and eliminates the need for one-on-one time with the new
product.
Lightbulb producer and director Jacquie Zelcer said training sales staff was expensive and there was no reason any company could not spend money making a very high-quality system that could then be put on the PC and sent to stores or customers.
If Lightbulb's foray into CD-based training is a hit, Nokia might consider using the Lightbulb system for upcoming phone models in other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Nokia has ordered 250 CDs for distribution to Vodafone stores and another 100 are being used by Nokia internally.
A senior manager from Nokia is also taking the system to Singapore for Nokia to use with its Best Practice strategy.
Zelcer owns the intellectual property rights for the training interface.
