KEY POINTS:
New Zealand medical technology company BrainZ Instruments has extended the distribution agreement for its BRM2 neonatal brain monitor to include seven Asian markets, including India and Korea.
BrainZ's BRM2 monitor is used by hospital staff to detect brain injury and seizure activity in babies. BrainZ's current distribution agreement with GE Healthcare, extended to October 2008, gives the company a toehold in North America, Middle East, UK and Europe.
BrainZ chief executive Dr Justin Vaughan said the agreement would promote "further globalisation."
It would improve distribution effectiveness in existing markets, open up new markets and help tackle the underperforming US market.
