Financial advisers have applauded a move by chartered accountants to offer an hour of free advice to Blue Chip investors.
The Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA) said most of its members were also offering free advice to people affected by the failed investment company, and virtually all would give an initial consultation for free.
"Many of our members have already been assisting Blue Chip investors with advice on issues such as re-financing and the options available to them," Simon Hasson, the president of the Institute of Financial Advisers said.
"We welcome the support offered by accountants as these people need all the help available."
The Companies Office has collaborated with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) to provide a freephone number for investors to seek help.
Blue Chip investors wanting help are being asked to ring 0508 197 510.
ICA chief executive Keith Wedlock said in an hour it was possible to grasp the key issues facing an investor, and to start suggesting how to address their situation.
This week, liquidators were confirmed for Blue Chip New Zealand Ltd and 20 associated companies, being wound up by Australian parent company Northern Crest Investments Ltd.
