KEY POINTS:
A bid has been launched for Christchurch exporter Humanware, which designs and makes computerised products for the blind and visually impaired.
Melbourne niche technology investor Jolimont Capital wants 70 per cent of the company, with management seeking 30 per cent.
The price is being kept secret until the 50 or more shareholders in Humanware receive the offer.
A shareholders' meeting is to be held on May 15.
The offer is backed by Humanware's board, with chairman Tim Robinson saying the company needed capital to grow but shareholders could not provide it, The Dominion Post reported today.
Humanware had $58 million in revenues for the year to June 2006 and profit before tax of $2.03 million, according to accounts filed with the Companies Office.
