State-owned communications company BCL has signed a $3 million supply deal for its national broadband wireless network with Alcatel, it said today.
BCL is deploying a 28-site broadband wireless access network, which is supposed to go live in October.
Alcatel would supply BCL with PDH radio, SDH nodes, ethernet switch infrastructure, and antennas compatible with a DMR backbone.
It would also provide ongoing support for the broadband network.
BCL technical director Keith Ladyman said Alcatel's total solution and tested technology had won the contract over five other companies.
"In particular, the Alcatel solution integrates well with BCL's existing and planned network assets," Mr Ladyman said in a statement.
