KEY POINTS:
An advertising and marketing agency is angry about NZX plans to call its new carbon trading platform TZ1.
The name, which stands for Time Zone One, is shared by a 22-person agency in Christchurch which says it trademarked the name TimeZoneOne five years ago.
Managing director Richard Tattershaw said it regularly used TZ1 as the shortened version of its name and owned the web domain www.tz1.co.nz
NZX head of communications Rowan MacRae said TZ1 had not been trademarked and its advice from patent lawyers was that it would not breach TimeZoneOne's rights.
